Here are some guidelines and available options for the disposal of Large Items.

1. You can haul Large Items to the city Drop-Off Site at: 402 South Point Road (just west of Menards). There is no charge for furniture or mattresses, however items such as appliances, TVs and electronics require a recycling fee sticker. You will need to pay the fee for items that require a sticker before you take the item to the drop-off site. You can purchase a fee sticker online and the city will mail you the sticker. Put the sticker on your item before bringing it to the drop-off site. You can also buy fee stickers at the Streets West offices (1501 W. Badger Rd.) or by phone (608-246-4532 or 608-266-4681). Drop-off site attendants do not take payments.

2. Sign up via email to management for direct collection by Waste Management. The cost for this service is $65 per item.

Large Items

3. When buying a new mattress or appliance, pay the fee to have the old items hauled away at the same time the new item is delivered.

4. Many wood, plastic and metal items can be cut up and disposed of in the trash carts.

Shared Dumpster – If there is enough interest, PVHA may coordinate a group dumpster purchase. If you are looking to dispose of a Large Item or some construction material, send an email to Lou@coalmorton.com. Please include a list of the Large Items and/or construction material you wish to dispose of. If there is enough demand PVHA will coordinate and obtain an appropriately sized dumpster. The cost for this dumpster would be shared by the Homeowners who signed up.

If you have any questions, comments or suggestions regarding Large Item disposal please do not hesitate to contact the Coal Morton office at 608-284-9676 or via email to Lou@coalmorton.com .

TVs, Computes, and electronics

Do not put televisions, computers, or electronics in your trash cart or on the curb. You must take these items to a city drop-off site or a private electronics recycler (link is external).

Fees for televisions and computers are not expected to return in 2025. The citiy’s contracted recycler is working with Samsung to cover recycling costs. This allowed them to temporarily stop the recycling fees for electronics.

Drop-off site hours change locations and hours seasonally.  Check the drop-off site website to be sure which site is open before loading your vehicle.
